Was treated there for a year and a half and never seemed to have less than a two hour wait. With a 9:00 appointment, I might get to see the doctor by 11:00. The last time I was there was for a 2:15 appointment and it was almost 5:00 before I was treated. Other people had been there since noon. I found a different facility the next day.

Suffered an Emergent symptoms in my right eye 8/20/2017. Placed a call to Midwest Eye consultants and spoke to after hours/weekend Emergency on call nurse. Found out my Eye Dr. retired. I was never notified. I had seen a retinal specialist here in the past and found out he no longer came to Midwest. Found out Warrensburg Hospital does not have on call Retinal Dr for retinal tears or detachment which is a medical emergency. On call nurse informed me that I had to call a retinal specialist on my own, which I knew wouldn't because I am retired RN and know that without a referral from my eye Dr. that they would not "just" see me. Asked what I was suppose to tell the retinal specialist, she said they would not ask me about my Dr. they would just provide care. Yeah, WRONG. So very sad that our health care providers are no longer educated.

I am a mom who sends her 14 year old daughter to a boarding school that is three hours away. Unfortunately, because of her geographic location, she is covered under a different insurance because she is there 10 months out of the year. She needed to be seen by an eye doctor so I went and got the referral from her PCM the way I was supposed to. The doctor suggested by our insurance wouldn't see my daughter unless she went all the way to Kansas City which was much further away so I tried to make an appointment with another doctor who was also in network, which was allowed according to my referral. It stated very clearly on the referral that we were free to choose any doctor in network with the referral. Midwest Eye would not accept it unless their doctor's name was on the front page, so I called my insurance back and had them change it. Thought we were good to go. I made an appointment at a time when I would be all the way across the state to actually taker her to the appointment myself. Midwest Eye called and cancelled that because the doctor was no longer available. I had to reschedule for the next week when I couldn't be there. Once again, I explained that I would have someone from the school get her to the appointment but that they were free to call me on my cell with any questions. My sister in law who is a nurse ended up taking her to the appointment which was early in the morning. I get a call asking if I have a fax machine so that I could sign forms. I state that I can be at a fax machine within the hour and I rush to work to fill out the paperwork and fax it back. The paperwork, by the way gives permission for other people of my choosing to have access to the medical information for my daughter so I put my sister in law and brother down since they are associated with the school and she was there already. Turns out my daughter was turned away (it is now the 10th of January and I started trying to get this done in November although, truthfully, the holidays got in the middle of it...couldn't get my daughter seen when she was home on break because St. Louis is in a different region for our insurance) and told that she could not be seen by the doctor without a parent present. Maybe that could have been mentioned to me the first time I called back in November? Or even in December when the appointment was rescheduled? What was the point of the paperwork stating that someone else had my permission to take care of things for her in my absence? So, my sister in law was inconvenienced because she had to get up early for the appointment and my daughter was inconvenienced because she had to get up early and miss some school, but I guess we aren't important enough for your office to consider. Evidently my daughter could go get an abortion in this country without my permission, but be seen by an eye doctor? No way!
