Good place to go for good deals
Was in Warrensburg for a meeting and stopped in to see what they had. Saw a few clothing pieces and a very pretty dress I liked, unfortunately not my size. I did score a solid brass pineapple trinket dish for $1 that polished up beautifully and a nice woven blue blanket for $8 that matched my bedroom furnishings. I definitely be back next time I'm in town. It's not the biggest or the best Salvation Army thrift store but you never know what you'll find at any of them and buy anything supports a good cause.
I had a bad experience with salvation army social service director. I have moved to this area in May 2015. I made a friend a couple months ago and found that he has seizures. He has no income and gets help from family and others. He has worked as a fire fighter or EMT for Johnson County all his life. About a month ago my friend Greg Matthews was having a seizure with me in the car. The Salvation Army director stopped and she thought to help. She wanted to call 911 I said no because I knew he would recover. She called anyways for one! Secondly she told me that if he needed medicine for his seizures that she could help with a voucher. So I forced my friend to get help with getting a Dr and medicine to take. Greg and I went to see this nice lady that offered to help us. She did remember us but she said that she would not even consider helping us. I know that $43 is not much money to most people but for someone that does not have any that's a lot. It's the fact that she made the offer to help then when taken up the offer she refused. I think that was mean and rude! I told her before we left that she should never have told someone that she would help then refuse when ask to help. Not a nice lady and if she is a rep of this organization it makes you look bad! I had notes from pharmacy and had she even asked which she didn't I had notes and dates from Dr. She did not even care! She did not even take 2 minutes to refused to help! This is a man that has served this community for over 30 years and has saved countless lives. The salvation army can hot help with a $43. Prescription that was even offered to him sounds sad! Me as someone new to the area thinks this is poor community service!
Never know what you'll find at this location. Check out the book section!
OK first off this review page is for the salvation army not a social services page so complaints about that are on the wrong page
